About Golden Children

Cambodia is one of the poorest, least developed countries in the world-struggling to rebuild from decades of war, occupation, and corruption. Today's Cambodia, while experiencing relative political stability, is deeply scarred. Its intellectual capital has been destroyed and its infrastructure is nonexistent. The consequences are particularly grim for the children of Cambodia. Many are orphaned; many others are abandoned because their parents have no means to care for them.

Golden Children is dedicated to transforming the lives of orphaned and abandoned children in Cambodia. Our mission is to provide housing, nutrition, medical attention, and education to these severely disadvantaged children in a new family-based village in Phnom Penh.

Our vision is an enriched living and learning environment in a safe, loving community of 36 traditional-style homes on a 17-acre site on the banks of the Mekong River just east of Phnom Penh's center. There, Cambodian couples will raise children in permanent foster care. The children will attend a school, built not far from the village, where the educational experience will reflect the highest caliber of international grade schools. When complete, this vibrant new village will provide nurturing homes for more than 200 children.

The future of Cambodia lies in breaking the cycle of hopelessness and desolation by caring for these children-and in doing so, empowering a new generation to chart a new course for the country.
